1. Service Description
PassVault is a local-first password vault for Android. It provides password entry management, password generation, encrypted local backup and restore, autofill, biometric unlock, and optional paid features. Core vault data is stored on your device by default. PassVault does not provide a developer-hosted cloud synchronization account service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required by applicable law in your jurisdiction) to use PassVault. If you are a minor in your jurisdiction, you may use the App only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian. By using the App, you represent that you meet these requirements and that you have the legal capacity to accept these Terms.
3. License Grant
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable, limited license to install and use PassVault on a device that you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial use. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
4. Local Vault and Master Password Responsibility
You are solely responsible for creating, remembering, and protecting your master password. The master password is the only key to your local vault. If you forget it and cannot unlock the App using an enabled biometric method, we cannot recover, decrypt, or reset your vault data. You may need to clear the App's local data and start over, which will permanently destroy your stored entries.
You are responsible for backing up important data and for protecting both backup files and backup passwords. Backup files are created, stored, moved, or shared only when you choose to export them. Data loss caused by a lost device, deleted App data, forgotten passwords, system failure, third-party services, or your own storage choices is your responsibility.
5. Autofill
If you enable PassVault as an Android autofill service, the App may access the structure of login forms, website domains, app package names, and the username/password fields you choose to fill or save. This access is used solely to match vault entries, fill credentials, generate passwords, or save new credentials after your confirmation. Autofill must be enabled by you through Android settings or the App and can be disabled at any time.
You should confirm that the destination website or app is trustworthy before filling or saving credentials. PassVault attempts to match entries using domain or app information, but it cannot guarantee that every third-party page or app is authentic, secure, or unchanged.
6. Subscriptions, Payments, and Refunds
PassVault may offer Pro subscriptions and one-time purchases ("Pro") through Google Play Billing. The features included in Pro, available billing periods, prices in your local currency, and any introductory or promotional offers are shown in the App and on the Google Play purchase screen at the time of purchase.
Auto-renewal
Subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current price for the same billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period through your Google Play account. Cancelling stops future renewals; you continue to enjoy Pro features until the end of the current paid period.
Cancellation
You can manage or cancel subscriptions at any time at play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions or in the Google Play app under Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
Refunds
Refunds for purchases made through Google Play are governed by Google Play's refund policies and applicable consumer-protection law. PassVault does not directly process your full card number, payment account credentials, or complete payment details. To request a refund, please use Google Play's refund flow first; if that is not available, contact us at ruiwanghello@gmail.com and we will assist within the limits set by Google Play.
Free trials and promotions
If a free trial or promotional period is offered, it converts into a paid subscription at the standard price unless cancelled before the trial ends. Eligibility for promotional pricing is determined by Google Play.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree to use PassVault only for lawful, legitimate purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not (a) use the App for illegal activity, infringement, fraud, security abuse, unauthorized access, or violation of others' rights; (b) interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to compromise the App, related services, or other users; (c) reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App except where applicable law expressly permits such activity and only to the extent so permitted; (d) remove or obscure any proprietary notices; or (e) use the App to store or distribute malware, illegally obtained credentials, or content that violates law.
8. Third-Party Services and Platform Features
The App depends on Android system features and uses third-party platform services such as Google Play Billing. Third-party services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. Availability of platform features, payment processing, permission prompts, store review decisions, and policy changes are not fully controlled by PassVault and may change without notice.
9. Intellectual Property and Open Source
Except for data that you enter, import, generate, or store in your vault (which remains yours), all rights in the App and its interface, code, icons, text, design, trademarks, and related materials belong to the developer or the applicable rights holders and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. You may not copy, distribute, sell, rent, sublicense, or commercially exploit any part of the App without prior written authorization.
The App incorporates open-source components (such as AndroidX, Jetpack Compose, Hilt, SQLCipher) under their respective licenses. Those licenses continue to govern the corresponding components and prevail over these Terms only to the extent of an express conflict.
10. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or quiet enjoyment. We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, able to prevent every security risk, suitable for your specific purpose, or compatible with every device, Android version, third-party app, or website.
Password security also depends on your device security, operating system updates, master password strength, backup handling, third-party website or app security, and your own usage habits. The App does not replace your security judgment.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither we nor our affiliates, contractors, or licensors will be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, punitive, exemplary, or consequential damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, credentials, goodwill, or business opportunity, arising out of or relating to your use of or inability to use the App, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the App will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to us for the App in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD 10. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages; in those jurisdictions, the limitations above apply only to the extent permitted.
12. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the developer from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with (a) your violation of these Terms, (b) your misuse of the App, or (c) your violation of any law or third-party right.
13. Changes and Termination
We may update, suspend, or discontinue parts of the App for product, security, compliance, or operational reasons. You may stop using the App and uninstall it at any time. Uninstalling the App or clearing App data may permanently delete your local vault data, so please confirm that you have any necessary encrypted backup before doing so. Sections that by their nature should survive (including IP, Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, Governing Law, and Miscellaneous) will survive termination.
14. Updates to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Updated Terms will be posted on this page and identified by the effective date above. If a material change affects your core rights or obligations, we will make reasonable efforts to provide notice through the App, the store listing, or another appropriate channel before the change takes effect. Your continued use of the App after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the People's Republic of China (excluding its conflict-of-laws principles), without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the App will first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If negotiation fails, the dispute will be submitted to a court of competent jurisdiction in the developer's place of habitual residence, unless mandatory law of your country of residence grants you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts, in which case those rights are preserved.
16. Consumer Rights and Mandatory Law
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any rights you may have as a consumer under mandatory law that cannot be lawfully limited or excluded. If you are a consumer in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with non-waivable consumer protections, those protections apply notwithstanding anything to the contrary in these Terms.
EEA/UK consumers have the right to withdraw from a digital-content purchase within 14 days of purchase, except where you have expressly consented to the immediate provision of digital content and acknowledged that you thereby lose the right of withdrawal. By starting your subscription or download, you so consent and acknowledge.
17. Miscellaneous
Entire agreement. These Terms together with the Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the App and supersede all prior agreements on the same subject.
Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
No waiver. Our failure to enforce a right or provision is not a waiver of that right or provision.
Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, or by operation of law.
No agency. No agency, partnership, joint venture, or employment relationship is created between you and us by these Terms.
Force majeure. We are not liable for any delay or failure to perform caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
